A couple of hasty decisions costed Leclerc a win in his home grand prix in Monaco.
George Russell and Lando Norris were in a battle of their own, with the Mercedes driver continuing his record of finishing in the top 5 in all races.
Norris, who came in 6th, was followed by 2 World Champions in Fernando Alonso(7th) and Lewis Hamilton in 8th.
Lewis’ former teammate, Valtterri Bottas came in 9th, while Sebastian Vettel finished in the points, in 10th.
This was on the back of a 5 second penalty for Estaban Ocon, meaning he could only finish 12th.
Pierre Gasly, who was out of qualifying session 1, had an impressive race as he finishes 11th. Daniel Ricciardo finished 13th, ahead of Lance Stroll.
Nicholas Latifi, Zhou Guanyu and Yuki Tsunoda were the others who were able to complete the race.
3 cars did not finish the race. This includes both the Haas cars of Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen, alongside Alex Albon.
Mick Schumacher had a horrific crash, which resulted in his car been broken into 2 pieces. He had been escorted to the doctor, after being helped out of the car.
A sight that no fan wants to see, we hope that Mick is fine after that hefty crash.
With Perez’ win tonight and Max coming in 3rd, it was a successful race for Red Bull.
Elation for Red Bull, despair for Ferrari
Ferrari outwitted by Red Bull to win the Monaco Grand Prix
Leclerc had negotiated the hour delayed start well, as he led the race. In his first pit stop, he was switched to the intermediate tires.
But, the Italy based franchise did not have a lot of faith in the Intermediates and called Leclerc in to switch him onto slicks. As a result, he lost track position, coming out behind Perez, Sainz and Verstappen.
In Monaco, track position is like gold and so was the case tonight too. Leclerc was unable to recover from the setback and as a result had to settle for 4th place in his home Grand Prix.
After this race, Verstappen increased his lead in the World Championship race to 9 points. He is on 125 points, with Leclerc on 116 and race winner Perez in 3rd with 110.
