Leclerc finishes on pole after Perez causes red flag in Q3
For the 2nd time in a row, a red flag in the Monaco Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc finishes on Pole, his 5th of the season.
With 30 seconds on the clock and the race for pole still on, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez caused a red flag and gave Charles Leclerc a pole in his home grand prix.
After a couple of disappointing races, Leclerc has a pole position to start the Monaco Grand Prix. Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz finished in 2nd, ahead of Sergio Perez. Another 1-2 for Ferrari this season in qualifying.
His closest rival Max Verstappen, could only finish 4th. Lando Norris’s McClaren finished 5th, ahead of George Russell in the Mercedes. His teammate, 7 time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, could only manage 8th.
The 2 Mercedes cars is split by Fernando Alonso, who has had a great qualifying session today. Sebastian Vettel and Estaban Ocon complete the top 10.
Qualifying is very important in Monaco and Charles Leclerc and Ferrari have the driving seat. But, there have been unexpected crashes that can turn around the fortune of the drivers in pursuit of the 1st place.
One example we have seen today, when Perez was late on the brakes and crashed into the barrier. Carlos Sainz too could not avoid contact and crashed into Perez.
An enthralling battle is expected tomorrow when the lights go out.

Will Ferrari be able to hang on for a 1-2, or will Max and Perez fight back to win the Monaco Grand Prix?
Many questions, whose answers cannot come before Race Day, tomorrow.
