Sports Trumpet exclusive with champion cyclist Sushikala
Sushikala Agashe speaks to Sports Trumpet in the send off ceremony for the athletes, before going on to represent India at the Commonwealth Games, 2022.
In the interview, Sushikala speaks about the preparations she has done for the CWG, how the Cycling Federation of India have helped them.
In 2017, Sushikala Agashe won a Gold Medal at the Asian Championship. This was a proud moment for all the Indians as both Men and Women won a Gold in the Asian Championship, after 17 years!
First up, Sushikala talks about the preparations that she has done for the upcoming CWG, 2022.
“We have prepared a lot for the upcoming Games in UK. COVID-19 had affected our preparations a lot but, we still managed to train.”
“Now, we have prepared ourselves completely for the event and we promise to give our 100% at the games and most likely, get back a medal from UK.”

Next, Sushikala tells us how the coaches and the Cycling Federation of India has helped us maintain our focus and be ready for the forthcoming events.
“The Cycling Federation of India has supported us a lot. We train at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. The coaches, Nutrionist, Psychologists, Physios, all are there to help us out, whenever in need.”
“We give our 100% in the training, under the guidance of the coaches. Now, we have to play the Commonwealth Games, followed by National Games and Asian Games. This is what we have prepared for.”
Speaking about the Gold Medal that she won at the Asian Games, Sushikala said” We got the medal at the Asian championship after a long wait of 17 years.”
“It was a very proud time for India as we got the medal in both, Men as well as Women”
Sushikala and Co will compete at the at the Commonwealth Games, 2022, commencing on 28th July in Uk.
