Sanju Samson Aims for Test Cricket Selection
Sanju Samson, a renowned name in Indian cricket, has set his sights on Test cricket, expressing his strong desire to represent India in the game’s most extended format. With his remarkable performances in limited-overs cricket, Samson has already cemented his place in the hearts of Indian cricket fans. However, he is now eager to prove himself in red-ball cricket, aiming to bring the same excellence he has displayed in T20 and ODI formats to Test matches.
Samson, known for his technically sound batting skills, believes he has the temperament and ability required for success in Test cricket. He has already demonstrated his potential in India’s domestic circuit, including the Ranji and Duleep Trophy. He wants to take his game to the next level on the international Test stage.
In a recent T20 series against Bangladesh, Samson showcased his explosive form, scoring an incredible 111 runs off just 47 balls in the final match, with a strike rate of 236.17. His knock included 11 fours and eight sixes, reminding everyone of his potential as a match-winner. Samson eagerly translates his aggressive batting into the patience and resilience needed for Test cricket.
During an interview, Samson expressed his confidence in succeeding in the red-ball format. He revealed that he has already spoken to Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir about his ambitions. Both have responded positively, giving him hope for a future call-up from the BCCI selectors. Samson has committed to playing more Ranji Trophy matches to solidify his red-ball credentials further.
Sanju Samson credits his recent success in T20 cricket to the support of Suryakumar Yadav, who captained him during his blistering knock, and Gautam Gambhir, the team’s coach. According to Samson, Yadav’s clarity and leadership, coupled with Gambhir’s belief in his abilities, have given him the freedom to perform at his best.
“I don’t want to limit myself to just white-ball cricket. I dream of playing Test cricket for India, and I am confident I can succeed. Rohit and Gautam bhai have been very supportive, and I am focusing on my red-ball game to make this dream a reality,” said Samson.
As Samson continues to push for his place in India’s Test team, fans eagerly await to see if this talented wicketkeeper-batsman from Kerala will soon don the white jersey and showcase his skills on the biggest stage.
