England’s Record-Breaking Test Win: The Multan Miracle Against Pakistan
A Story Of Ravi Bishnoi
If you are born in India, then there is a big chance that you would have wanted to become a cricketer in your childhood days. In a country where cricket and cricketers are worshipped more than God, becoming a successful cricketer is as hard as it can be. Some athletes go through years of struggle to finally get selected into the Indian Cricket team. However, there are some players who have an unbelievable amount of talent, and with an equal amount of hard work, they manage to get into the squad in a short span of time. One such cricketer is Ravi Bishnoi.
Born on September 5, 2000, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan he was a cricket fanboy as well and dreamt of playing in the Indian team one day. Due to the lack of facilities for cricket training in West Rajasthan, he along with his friends and two coaches managed to set up their own cricket academy called Spartans Cricket Academy. They did all the work by themselves as they were not financially in a good place at the time. This is where Ravi first started training. He was rejected by the U-16 and U-19 local teams as well but finally managed to get selected in the U-19 team for Rajasthan after some time. In March 2018, he was also called by the Rajasthan Royals to be a net bowler for them.
His domestic cricket career started when he made his debut for Rajasthan in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy on 21st Feb 2019. He then went on to make his List A debut for Rajasthan in the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In 2019 he was named in India A’s squad for the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy as well.
Bishnoi’s breakthrough soon came in the Indian Premier League when he was picked up in the IPL auction by Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2020 season. He made his IPL debut against the Delhi Capitals and ended his spell at 1/22 with Rishabh Pant becoming his maiden IPL dismissal. Bishnoi ended that season with a total of 12 wickets and was even nominated for the Emerging Player of the Tournament award. He was then deservingly selected in India’s squad for the U-19 World Cup where he showed everyone his class and talent by finishing the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 17 dismissals.
And now, ahead of West Indie’s tour of India, his lifelong dream has finally come true as he has been selected in the Indian squad for the One Day International and T20 International series at the age of 21.
