Ranji Trophy Update : TN vs Andhra
Ranji Trophy Update : TN vs Andhra – In a low-scoring thriller, Andhra defeats Tamil Nadu by eight runs.
It was Andhra that stood its ground, bravely commanded by skipper Hanuma Vihari. Vihari had given his men faith.
With 155 for three, Tamil Nadu lost its way in chasing 203 to lose to a tenacious Andhra team by eight runs.
If the hitters had selected their shots more carefully, they may have reached the goal of slightly over 200 in over 60.
Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan’s combo!
N. Jagadeesan went for too much too soon to be kept in the deep for 14. Before edging a Shoaib delivery that spun away, the gifted Sai Sudharsan blazed with strokes on both sides for his 37.
This probably added more value to the game. But the fans of cricket would be little upset because the kind of expectation the had on the openers was shattered. Yes, everyday can’t be everyone’s day!
Baba Aparajith
Aparajith who is often known for his smart selction of shorts that change from one bowler to another, had also got out. This was another shocking incident for the Team, beacuse they had already lost 3 best batsmen of the state for Andhra’s bowling.
What paved way for Andhra’s confidence?
Andhra had done well by picking early wickets but Tamil Nadu needed just about 97 runs to anchor the victory towards their side. The tactics that bowlers used helped them take the game to a different level altogether.
Sai Kishore’ smart bowling:
As Ricky Bhui left the game for 76, R Sai Kishore claimed three wickets. While Andhra had a lead of just 172 runs and had reached the 200-run mark, they had lost seven wickets. Tamil Nadu had to aim to polish off the tail and then would hvae had to start favourites to gun down the total.
What about other players?
Vijay Shankar threw one back to Shoaib, who had managed to get the ball to dip, while keeping his feet still. The young Pradosh Ranjan Paul succumbed to an unfortunate pull when he felt the heat.
Washington Sundar:
Washington Sundar (65), who had kept the pursuing team’s hopes alive until the very last play, was the last player to be removed with the score at 194.
Indrajith‘s amazing contribution:
The skipper of Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy Team, Baba Indrajith contributed a wise amount of runs for his Team. His 43 runs and smart play gave confidence for the Tamil Nadu Team. But after his defeat the ball was in the cour of Vijay Shankar and Pradosh Paul who had to take nearly 50 runs.
Though TN Team had a downfall against Andhra, they had an upper hand over the game by winning first againt Hyderabad. To become champions they would have to strive very hard.
