What makes him become the epitome of tolerance?
Twelve years after his 2010 Test debut, Unadkat featured in his second match. Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of India, praised Jaydev Unadkat after the 31-year-old bowler played his first Test in 12 years, adding that the Saurashtra pacer’s success story is a testament to his perseverance and self-belief.
With more than 350 wickets in 93 games, Unadkat has been among the top wicket-takers in domestic cricket. Additionally, in 2019–20, he guided Saurashtra to their first Ranji Trophy victory.
In the 2019–20 season, Unadkat set a record for the most wickets in a season by taking 67 wickets in just 10 games.
Jaydev’s entry into the squad in the recent time:
The left-arm pacer was not in the squad for the Bangladesh tour but was added as injury replacement.
He was given this call, after his impressing innings for Saurastra in the recent Vijay Hazare Tryophy that was held.
Unadkat was given the chance to play again in whites after missing as many as 118 Tests after missing the first Test owing to visa complications.
Unadkat made his Test debut against South Africa at Centurion on December 16, 2010, 12 years and two days ago. In between, he missed 118 Test matches, the highest by an Indian and second highest in world cricket.
Only England’s Gareth Batty(142) has missed more matches than Unadkat in the history of Test cricket.

Veteran pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who was making his Test comeback after more than 12 years, finally secured his first wicket in the match on Thursday. Unadkat’s Test debut, against South Africa in Centurion in December 2010, was notable for going wicket-less.
Unadkat replaced the in-form Kuldeep Yadav in the team for the second Test against Bangladesh, which is currently underway. Kuldeep Yadav had taken eight wickets in the first Test, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings, and was in fine form.
Unadkat dismissed Zakir Hasan for his maiden Test wicket in todays match.This was an emotional moment for not just him, but for other supporters of Jaydev as well.
