David Warner and Cricket Australia(CA)
David Warner and Cricket Australia(CA) : The explosive opener and former vice-captain of Test cricket was barred from holding any positions of authority in 2018 as a result of his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town.
Warner and his cricket board have been at odds over how the leadership ban was handled. While he prepares to play his 100th Test, his batting performance has been inconsistent.
The 36-year-old last month charged that a review panel was attempting to instigate a “public lynching” in order to overturn the leadership ban he received following the ball-tampering scandal in 2018.
He decided not to pursue his appeal, destroying his chances of becoming the country’s leader.
As the news of his review spread, Warner felt that Cricket Australia, often known as CA, gave him no support prior to the two-match series against the West Indies.
Warner, who was also given a one-year playing ban as a result of the “Ball Tampering issue” controversy, expressed his confusion over the lengthy 11-month investigation.
Warner admitted in a press conference on Saturday that he probably wasn’t at 100 percent going into the Perth Test in terms of his mental health.
Lets see why?
2018 have seen the convictions of Steve Smith and David Warner in South Africa’s ball-tampering incident.
Warner received a lifelong leadership ban, while previous captain Steve Smith was removed of the position and barred from leading Australia for two years.
As reprisal for their involvement in the infamous ball-tampering controversy, Warner, Smith, and batsman Cameron Bancroft were prohibited from participating in domestic or international cricket competitions.
Bancroft was placed on extended leave while Warner and Smith received one-year bans.
In the Perth Test last week, Warner, who received criticism for his Test performance, was dismissed for 0 and 3. Since January 2020, he has not yet scored a century in a Test match.
What did Warner say?
After the South Africa Series is over, Warner indicated he and CA would probably speak again.
Its is to be noted that Steve Smith who was caught in the same controversy as Warner will be the skipper for the series.
But sportsmanship wins!
