CWG 2022: Jeremy Lalrinnunga wins India’s second gold medal, sets record at the age of 19
Indian young weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga has done wonders in the Commonwealth Games 2022. The 19-year-old weightlifter won a gold medal in the men’s 67 kg category. This is India’s second gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Lalrinnunga’s attempt to lift 300 (140+160 kg) kilograms was successful in winning gold at the Commonwealth Games. Jeremy has graced the tricolor for the third time in four years. Apart from a gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympics, he had also won gold at the Commonwealth Games last year.

Sanket Mahadev Sargar won the silver medal in the men’s 55 kg weight category on July 30 (Saturday) ahead of Jeremy Lalrinnunga. After that, Gururaja Poojary won the bronze medal in the 61 kg weight class.
Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal in the 49 kg weight class. Bindiyarani Devi gave India its fourth medal at the Commonwealth Games. She won silver in the 55kg weight category. This is India’s 130th medal in weightlifting in the history of the Commonwealth Games. Only Australia has won more medals than India.
