Lucknow Super Giants’ players were fined in hindsight of their victory against Mumbai Indians, for slow overrate. LSG won the match against MI by 36 runs.
KL Rahul scored a Klassy century as LSG get a much needed win, as they go to 10 points.
All the players were fined because it was the second over rate offence.
LSG skipper KL Rahul was fined RS 24 Lakhs, while other players had to pay RS 6 Lakhs or 25% of the match fee, whichever is lower.

The first time LSG skipper KL Rahul was fined RS 12 Lakhs for first over rate. Co-incidentally, the first over rate offence was also against Mumbai Indians.
“KL Rahul was fined Rs 24 lakhs and the rest of the members in the playing eleven were fined Rs 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their match fee, whichever is lower,” said the IPL in a statement.
LSG and KL Rahul maintained a slow over rate and as a result were punished. They were charged under IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences.
Slw overrate means the number of overs a side needs to bowl within an hour.
According to ICC code of conduct, 1 innings of a T20 match needs to be completed within 85 minutes. If not so, there will be serious ramifications.
It states if a team maintains a slow over rate, the first time the skipper of the fielding team will be fined RS 12 Lakhs.
If the offence is committed for a second time, the fielding team captain will be charged RS 24 Lakhs and the other members of the playing XI need to pay RS 6 Lakhs or 25% of match fee, whichever is lower.
A third over rate offence sees the skipper being charged 30% of the match fee in addition to a 1 match ban. The other players will have to pay RS 12 Lakhs or 50% of match fee, whichever is lower.
This is the third and final warning for KL Rahul. If he fails to keep the over rate in check, he will miss a match. Missing a match for disciplinary reasons, would not bore well with the BCCI, especially with the T20 World Cup coming up later, this year.
