Happy Birthday Virat Kohli: Honoring the Milestones of India’s Batting
Ishan Kishan gets out in an unfortunate way against LSG
Ishan Kishan was out caught in the most unnatural of ways in MI’s match vs LSG. The openersstruggles came to an end with this bizarre dismissal.
After a magnificent century by KL Rahul, MI were given the target of 169 to get their 1st win of the season.

Rohit Sharma walked out to bat alongside Ishan Kishan. MI got off to a decent start, majorly because of Rohit Sharma.
Unfortunately, Rohit’s quick start was nullified by a struggling Ishan Kishan. He just could not find the gaps.
Dot balls started to build up the pressure and in the end Ishan chose an awful shot that led to his demise.
A short pitched wrong un, well outside off, Kishan stretched every sinew of his muscles to get a bat to it.
The toe end of the bat hit the ball, which ballooned up off Quinton De Kocks shoes and went straight into the hands of Jason Holder at slip.
This is one of the unluckiest ways a batsman can get out. But Kishan’s lack of feet movement can be scrutinized as well.
This was the third time in 4 games, where Ishan Kishan has failed to reach double figures. A big concern for MI coaching staff and Mahela Jayawardene.
MI went on to lose the match against LSG by 36 runs. They created a new and an unwanted record of remaining winless in 8 matches.
The fans have been enraged by the dismal batting performance and have taken to Social Media to vent their frustration.
With the hopes of qualification all but done, expect a few changes in the line ups for the upcoming matches.
In an interview, Mahela Jayawardene said, “He(Ishan Kishan) has struggled a bit, we have given him the freedom to play his natural game. I haven’t yet spoken to him today but I will have a conversation with him soon.”
Former Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar also had his say on Ishan Kishan and the unfortunate dismissal.
He said “He had a miserable time. He just walked off. Because he had a miserable time. So he just wanted to get out of his misery. Generally batters, when they have ripped the ball of the middle-edge of the bat, and caught and first slip, they would wait. But here’s a man, who hit ball down, may be even hit the turf he was not interested, he was just walking until the umpire asked him to wait. So it was just the mental situation he was in.”
Ishan Kishan was bought by Mumbai Indians for a massive 15.25 crore at the Tata IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Afte a good start to the campaign, Ishan has struggled in almost every other match.
“Maybe he was rattled by the blow he got in the last match on his helmet and it is actually not a good sign because in places like Australia or South Africa there is extra bounce and with his propensity to go there and do nothing about it, he will just be a rabbit caught in the headlights. Every fast bowler is just going to bang it over there. Nobody will pitch it up because that’s where he likes. Anything below the waist he will smack it, but above, he is struggling at the moment,” Gavaskar added.
With the T20 world cup happening in Australia in November, Ishan Kishan’s place in the squad seems to be doubtful, unless the opener can miraculously turn around his form before the end of MI’s IPL campain.
