Vettel to be replaced by Nico Hulkenberg for the Bahrain GP
Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel has been tested positive for Covid-19 just ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix which is going to be the opening race of the 2022 Formula One championship. He will be replaced by the team’s reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg who will now partner Lance Stroll for the Aston Martin team.
Nico will be in the car from Friday when the first F1 practice day kicks off the maiden racing weekend of this year.
It will be Nico’s first grand prix experience since he filled in at the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix when his Canadian teammate Lance Stroll was tested positive for Covid-19.
The start of this year’s Championship also saw McLaren racing team’s Daniel Ricciardo test positive ahead of the Pre-season testing recently as well. However, the Australian driver has been tested negative since then and will be available for the McLaren team on opening day of the season.
Vettel would be questioning his luck right now after testing positive so close to race day but the four time world champion will definitely come back with the same energy soon.
