Mayank Agarwal appointed as the new Punjab Kings captain

Punjab Kings have decided to appoint Mayank Agarwal as captain for the upcoming season, after the departure of former captain KL Rahul.

Mayank Agarwal joined the Punjab team ahead of the IPL on Wednesday. He was with the Indian Team for the test series against Sri Lanka. It will be his full debut season as a captain. Last year in the absence of former captain KL Rahul, he would use to lead the side.

After being chosen as the captain, Mayank Agarwal said “I have been at Punjab Kings since 2018 and I take a lot of pride in representing this fantastic unit.

I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the team.

I take over this responsibility with the utmost sincerity, but at the same time, I believe my job would be made easier with the talent we have in the Punjab Kings squad this season.”

Mayank Agarwal would want to lead his team to a maiden IPL title. With a new team, he would be confident that he can achieve the target.

Mayank Agarwal not only has to captain the side, but also open the batting and lay a platform from where his team can capitalize.

He has the aid of an experienced player in Shikhar Dhawan along with the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow etc.

Punjab Kings look like a strong team on paper, it is to be seen whether that is the case when the Tata IPL gets underway.
