UEFA open disciplinary proceedings against Nasser al Khelaifi
The European football association UEFA has opened up disciplinary proceedings against French football club Paris Saint Germain’s president Nasser Al Khelaifi and Sporting Director Leonardo after their furious altercation in the referee’s room on Wednesday. This reaction came after his team lost a two-goal lead on aggregate against Spanish giants Real Madrid and lost 3-2 in the crucial UEFA Champions League last 16 second leg tie at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
It is said that both Nasser and Leonardo stormed from their VIP box after the full-time whistle and banged the referee room’s door as they were furious on the referee’s decision on Karim Benzema’s second goal when he clashed with PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma which eventually led to Real Madrid’s amazing comeback. The whole PSG team is believed to be furious with the second goal being awarded to Madrid and feels that they have been cheated on.
Their manager Mauricio Pochettino also said that it was a “clear foul” on his goalkeeper and that they should have been awarded a freekick at that moment. However, this defeat against Real Madrid eventually means that the French club have again failed to win the champions league this season.
