TATA IPL 2022: CSK vs KKR to be the season opener, final on May 29
The Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have come out with the full schedule of the 15th edition of the TATA IPL 2022 which will be starting from March 26th. The 10-team new season will be starting with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders which will be the repeat of the last season’s final. The match will take place at the Wankhede Stadium which has been chosen as one of the few stadiums to host this season’s IPL due to Covid restrictions.
The matches will be played across four different venues in Mumbai and Pune which are Wankhede, DY Patil Stadium, Brabourne, and MCA International Stadium respectively as the newly introduced franchises Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants look to kick start a new chapter in the Indian Premier League history. The BCCI has decided that there will be a total of 70 matches that will be played over the season which will increase the competition and excitement in the competition as well.
This season will have a different starting format as the 10 teams have been divided into 2 groups which will have 5 teams each. The teams have been divided according to their title-winning history and on how many times teams have reached the finals. The two new franchises will be facing each other first in what will be an exciting match-up to witness.
The new season of the Indian Premier League will bring along a new wave of thrill and excitement for the fans and the people involved with the teams. We will also get to see a lot of players donning new jerseys as all the teams will have a new look to them because of the major shuffle of players beforehand in the IPL Mega Auction.
