Sri Lanka tour of India will begin on February 25. Sri Lanka will play two Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals.
On February 25, Bengaluru will host the first Test and Mohali will host the second Test on March 5. On March 13, Mohali will also host the first T20I, after which the second will be played in Dharamsala. The final game in the series will take place in Lucknow on March 18.
Sourav Ganguly, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced that India will play a pink ball Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. The rest of the venues for Sri Lanka’s tour in February and March have not been confirmed by Ganguly, but Bengaluru will host the pink-ball Test.
Virat Kohli is expected to play his 100th Test match in Bengaluru, where he enjoyed a massive fan following due to his association with the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise.
This will be the third pink-ball Test that the team will play in India and the fourth overall. In November 2019, India hosted their first pink-ball Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata. In that match, India won by an innings and 46 runs. In February 2021, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, they won the second pink-ball test by 10 wickets.
In December 2020, India also played Australia in Adelaide in their first pink-ball Test abroad. India lost by eight wickets.
Before Sri Lanka’s tour, India will host the West Indies for three ODIs and three T20Is. Indian cricket team will play 1000th ODI match against West Indies on 6th February 2022.
