Shane Warne funeral will take place on March 30 at the MCG
The state memorial service for Australian spin star Shane Warne will take place on March 30 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The MCG will host Warne’s funeral. Shane Shane Warne died of an apparent heart attack in Thailand last week. On Wednesday, Premier Andrews announced that an official state memorial service will be held at the MCG in Warne’s honour.
Prior to the MCG service, the family has stated that a private funeral will be held.

Prior to his retirement from international cricket, Warne took his 700th test wicket at the MCG in 2006 and his Ashes hat trick in 1994. Warne grew up in Melbourne, Australia.
According to the autopsy, there is no sign of foul play in the death.
Warne’s body was transported by boat to the Thai mainland city of Surat Thani on Sunday after he died on the Thai vacation island of Koh Samui on Friday. The plane arrived in Bangkok on Monday night and was preparing to fly back to Melbourne.
“The night Warne died was the start of an endless misery,” his family said in a statement on Monday.
