Shaheen Shan Afridi wins ICC Men’s Cricketer of the year
Shaheen Shah Afridi, a fast bowler from Pakistan, has been named ICC Men’s Cricketer of the year. Afridi took 78 wickets in 36 matches for Pakistan in 2021.
Across all three formats of the game, Shaheen Shan Afridi knocked out some world-class batsmen in 2021. During the ICC World T20 2021, he was in excellent form. Afridi removed India’s top-order batsmen in the first match against them. However, Pakistan went to the semifinals of the 2021 T20 WC. The fast bowler took seven wickets in six matches. The T2o format was dominated by him, as he took 23 wickets in 21 games.
Having made his test debut in 2018 against New Zealand, Pakistan’s fast bowler Afridi rose to prominence in 2021 when he took 47 wickets in nine tests for an average of 17.06. He was the second-best wicket-taker in test cricket. His best bowling figure in a test is 6/51 against Bangladesh.
I tried to produce performances for Pakistan. In 2021, our team performed well, and we won some good matches. I always try to produce good performances for Pakistan and will continue with my efforts. There is a lot of support for others in our team. We have gelled together and feel happy when we see our teammates doing well,” said Afridi in his acceptance speech.
