After investing INR 55.45 crore in the recently concluded IPL super auction, RCB signed 19 players. RCB paid INR 10.75 crore for Harshal Patel, INR 10.75 crore for Wanindu Hasaranga, INR 7.75 crore for Josh Hazlewood, INR 7.75 crore for Faf du Plessis, INR 5.50 crore for Dinesh Karthik, INR 3.40 crore for Anuj Rawat, INR 3.40 crore for Shahbaz Ahmed, INR 2.4 crore for Sherfane Rutherford, INR 1 crore for David (INR 2 crore).
“We are extremely pleased with the way our team has been constructed with the new additions centred around the maintained abilities. It’s a well-balanced team of international and domestic players. We were able to cover all our bases with multi-dimensional skill sets, which was critical to our approach for entering the auctions. Given the auction dynamics, the bulk of things went as planned, and we were able to check off all of the criteria that we had set out to achieve for the RCB squad “RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson, stated.
The plan was to identify specialised roles for individuals we identified and to go after individual players strategically while managing the budget appropriately. We were also able to reclaim some of our RCB players, which was always a key element of our game plan. With the way the auction dynamics play out, it is certainly an accomplishment, and the budget remains a restriction, but we are really pleased with the conclusion. We also looked at availability and how quickly all of these players got into the flow, as well as the preparations to assemble a playing XI. We are certainly looking forward to the forthcoming season and think we have the tools to put up a good performance,” he added.
“We are quite delighted with the squad that we put together over the course of two days at the Tata IPL Mega Auction 2022. We have several seasoned players who have shown diverse performances in recent cricket competitions, as well as bright youths who have demonstrated incredible promise with their persistent efforts in their emerging cricket career. We were extremely clinical in our planning, and we have assured that players who have a fearless mindset and represent our Play Bold concept would join us on this trip and enjoy their spell at RCB playing their brand of cricket. We are looking forward to a thrilling season of cricket entertainment with this outstanding group of players “Prathmesh Mishra, chairman of the RCB, stated.
