Rafael Nadal to play in Barcelona before the French Open
Rafael Nadal will compete in the Barcelona Open in April, the tournament announced on Wednesday, as he prepares for the French Open in Paris.
After winning the trophy for the first time in 2005, Nadal will be attempting to capture his 13th championship on the clay courts in Barcelona.
David Ferrer, tournament director of the tournament, said that Rafa’s presence in Barcelona brings excitement and joy to the tournament.
Rafael Nadal won the Mexican Open after defeating world no. 1 Daniil Medvedev last weekend in the semi-finals.
Rafal Nadal becomes first man to win 21 grand slams, overtaking Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on the list of major winners.
Just a month before the French Open which starts in May, the Barcelona Open will begin on 16th April.
After losing in the semi-finals against Djokovic last year, Nadal will be seeking for a record-tying 14th title at Roland Garros.
