Pat Cummins talks about the ongoing crisis in Sri Lanka

The Australia tour of Sri Lanka has concluded after the home team won the second Test match between the two nations. While Australia won the T20I series comfortably, the home team made a superb comeback and won the ODI series.

With the limited over series done and dusted, the focus shifted towards the red ball games. The visitors played some excellent cricket during the first game, Sri Lanka once again bounce back in the series and won the second Test by an innings.

After the tour has come to an end, Australia skipper Pat Cummins has talked about the current financial crisis on the island nation.

 “The protest yesterday, you couldn’t escape it. We’ve got list of messages from back home saying, ‘how is it? Hope you’re okay.’ We’ve felt totally fine,” Cummins said in a video posted by Cricket Australia

‘You could just hear kind of when it changed from a protest to a party.

Talking about the final Test match, Australia, after batting first, scored 364 runs in the first innings in 110 overs, courtesy of centuries from Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. Labuschagne was dismissed for 104 runs while opener Usman Khawaja contributed with 37 runs. Smith scored an unbeaten 145 runs and also broke his century drought.

The left-arm orthodox spinner Prabhath Jayasuriya was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers in the innings, picking up six wickets for 118 runs.

Sri Lanka, in their first innings, scored 554 runs in 181 overs, with four batters scoring a fifty and one scoring a hundred. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne scored 86, Kusal Mendis, at number three, scored 85, Angelo Mathews, at number four, scored 52 and Kamindu Mendis, at number six, scored 61.

 Dinesh Chandimal scored his maiden double hundred, and remained unbeaten on 206 runs off 326 balls, with 16 fours and five sixes.

The home bundled out Australia cheaply in their second innings as Sri Lanka won the match by an innings.
