Odean Smith’ exceptional day at the office

The West Indian All rounder picked up 4/30 in his 3 overs as Punjab Kings won by 12 runs against a struggling MI side.

IPL 2022: Odean Smith starred in the win vs MI. He was involved in 6 off the 9 wickets that fell, picking up 4 wickets, taking 2 catches and effecting a runout.

After a nightmarish match vs Gujarat Titans, Odean bounced back with an outstanding effort in the field vs the record champions.

Rahul Tewatia smashed 2 consecutive 6’s off the last two deliveries to help Gt triumph over PBKS.

A similar task lay ahead against MI As well for Odean Smith. He had to defend 22 runs in the final over vs Unadkat and Murugan Ashwin.

The first ball went for a 6, but Odean finished strongly, picking up 3 wickets in the next 5 balls as PBKS won by 12 runs.

Speaking in the post match interview, Odean said “Captain Mayank has been amazing. He has always come to me and told me that he is backing me 100 percent, no matter what happens. It’s just for me to believe that I can do it because I have the belief of the entire team behind me.”

Odean heaped praise on the coach and the team management as well.

He said “They have been very motivating. They have helped me mentally to be able to come into this game and put in the performance today. They have been a major help for me. I would like to thank the coach.”

Punjab Kings now play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 17th April, in the afternoon game.
