Manager of India’s Winter Olympics contingent tests positive for Covid-19
The 2022 Winter Olympics are going to be held in Beijing and the Indian contingent have landed in Beijing and will be looking forward to the tournament. However, India’s contingent manager for the Winter Olympics Mohammad Abbas Wani, has tested positive for Covid-19 upon arrival in the Chinese capital. He is part of the six-member delegation team that have traveled with the athletes.
The Winter Olympics contingent comprises Kashmir skier Arif Khan who is the only skier in the country who has qualified this time. He will be taking part in Slalom and Giant Slalom events during the winter games. The contingent also includes Harjinder Singh as its chef de mission, Ludar Chand Thakur as an alpine coach, Puran Chand as a technician, and Rop Chand Negi as a team official.
The president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Narinder Batra informed everyone about this news and also said that chef de mission Harjinder is coordinating with the Winter Olympics organizers for a re-test. He said “The manager of the Indian contingent Mr. Abbas Wani tested COVID positive at Beijing Airport. The chef de mission Mr. Harjinder Singh is coordinating for a re-test.
