Lewis Hamilton set to change his name to honour his mother
Seven time F1 World champion Lewis Hamilton has decided that he is going to be changing his name to include his mother’s surname ‘Larbalestier’ into his new name. The British racing superstar had announced his decision at the Dubai Expo and told the press that his intention behind this decision is for his mother’s name to live on forever by his legacy in the F1. The Mercedes driver is currently in the process of changing his name and will be looking forward to getting over with the formalities required for the change to take place.
“I am really proud of my family’s name, Hamilton,”
“I’m actually, none of you might know that my mum’s name is Larbalestier and I am just about to put that in my name.
“Because I don’t fully understand the idea that when people get married the woman loses their name. And my mum, I really want her name to continue on [along] with the Hamilton name.”
said Hamilton
“Hopefully soon, I don’t know if it will be this weekend, but we are working on it.” Hamilton added on his wish to race under the new name as soon as possible.
After Hamilton’s unfortunate loss in last year’s world championship to the Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, he would be extra motivated to come back to his best and break Michael Schumacher’s record with his eighth F1 championship title this year.
“Everything, It’s impossible to know what the future holds and what it would feel like, but of course to do something that no one else has done would feel mind-blowing.”
“I know it would mean so much to all of us that go through all these different emotions though the year, those of you that are on the road with me, whether you are at home or at the race track.”
Hamilton said when asked what winning an eighth world title would mean to him.
This year’s F1 world championship will bring a whole new level of energy and excitement not only amongst the fans but in the drivers as well who will be looking forward to starting things on a good note in the first race of the season in Bahrain.
