The Lahore Qalandars defeated the Multan Sultans to win the PSL title in 2022
The Lahore Qalandars have beaten defending champions Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the 2022 Pakistan Super League final which took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday. It is the team’s maiden PSL title win in seven years which makes all that special.
It was Mohammed Hafeez who inspired Lahore’s win with a brilliantly made 69 runs off just 46 balls in the first innings. Harry Brook also made an impressive 41 not out to make sure that the team puts up a respectable total which eventually was an impressive 180 runs on the board for the Multan Sultans to chase.
It wasn’t the case of job done by the Lahore team as they still had a total to defend against one of the best teams of the league as well. However, the bowling contingent of the Lahore Qalandars was equally impressive and matched the performance of the first innings. Captain Shaheen Afridi led his team in the second innings by example as the Pakistani pacer took three important wickets in the match at the expense of 30 runs. Hafeez and Zaman Khan also managed to take 2 wickets each while Haris Rauf took one to his name as well.
The Multan Sultans were the clear favourites to win the title yet again but their opponents had another plan in mind and delivered it to perfection.
