India beats Sri Lanka to complete 3-0 series whitewash
The Indian Cricket Team make it 12 consecutive T20 international match wins in a row as they beat Sri Lanka in the 3rd T20 match of the series. India have now completed another whitewash series for them as they took a 3-0 lead today against the Lankans.
Shreyas Iyer once again showed his consistency and class in his batting by scoring 73 (45) not out as he and Ravindra Jadeja (22 off 15) helped the team successfully chase the total of 147 runs. Team India managed to win the match by six wickets in the end.
Despite India choosing to replace almost all of their bowlers for the match today, the new Indian bowling contingent took their chance with both hands and each and every bowler except for Kuldeep Yadav managed to take a wicket in the first innings with the stand out player being Avesh Khan. Avesh managed to knick two wickets against the Lankans at the expense of just 23 runs in 4 overs.
Shreyas Iyer was the deserving Man of the Match today as he inspired the Indian team to victory with his unbeaten 73 off 45 balls today.
New Indian Captain Rohit Sharma also made a new record in this game as he did in the last one by becoming the most capped T20 international player after playing his 125th T20 international match. He has overtaken Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik who has played 124 matches.
The focus will now shift on the Test series against the Lankans where the Indian fans will get to witness Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match as well.
