IPL 2022: MS Dhoni will not retire after this season
IPL 2022: CSK CEO Kasi Vishwakaran has revealed that MS Dhoni will continue playing beyond the Tata IPL 2022 season.
MS Dhoni confessed he will no longer lead CSK but, will continue playing beyond this season. This calms down the rumors regarding his retirement after IPL 2022.
“No, I don’t think (this is going to be his last season). He will carry on,” CEO Viswanathan said.
This is good news for all cricket lovers as they want to see MS Dhoni beyond the Tata IPL 2022 season.
The CEO also mentioned that MS Dhoni would not pick and choose games at will, he will be a guiding force for the team.
Everyone was taken aback when MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy to star all rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Also read: https://www.sportstrumpet.com/ravindra-jadeja-is-the-new-captain-of-chennai-super-kings/
CSK released a statement stating that “MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond.”
Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains in the IPL. He has won the title 4 times – 2010,2011,2018 and 2021.
“We have always respected the decision of MS. He has been a pillar of strength for us. He will continue to be a pillar of strength and he will guide Jaddu (Jadeja) and the other members of the team. He is expecting a smooth transition from him to Jaddu and that’s why he has taken the decision. As a captain and player, who has always cared for CSK, he must have taken the decision in the best interest of CSK,” Viswanathan said.
Vishwanathan was amazed by the bond created between MS Dhoni and Tamil Nadu and Chennai. MS Dhoni, who became CSK’s captain in 2008 became Chennais Thala soon.
MS Dhoni said in an interview”“I have always planned my cricket. My last ODI that I played in India was in Ranchi. Hopefully my last T20 will be in Chennai. Whether it’s next year or in five years’ time, I don’t know.”
Even though MS Dhoni did not contribute much with the bat last term, he led the team to a 4th title under his captaincy. Perhaps a fitting end to a captaincy reign that had begun in 2008.
