India’s Tour Of South Africa 2021-22
South Africa and India would be meeting each other this winter as India will begin out to tour South Africa in December 2021.
The tour is going to be a longspun one, which will include the Tests format, One-day Internationals format and the T20I format of the series only. This tour will be made up of three Tests and One-day International matches and then 4 T20Is. The India versus South Africa 2021 series will start with the opening Test match in Johannesburg which will be played on December 17th, 2021. The final match of the series would be the 4th T20I played at the Boland Park in Paarl on 26th January 2022.
The Test series will be a section of the new round of the ICC World Test Championship, while the ODI series will form a frame of the ICC Men’s World Cup Super League, which works as the requirement tournament for the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup.
The visitors in Johannesburg will now host the New Year’s Test match, starting on January 3, due to planning reasons. Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town has been long-established to host a New Year’s Test.
India’s trip to South Africa begins with the Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion. It will be accompanied by the New Year’s Test in Johannesburg, then the third and last Test in Cape Town, beginning January 11.
The Cricket South Africa and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCI) accepted to continue with the journey notwithstanding the explosion of a new variant of coronavirus, Omicron. The Indian team will leave for South Africa a week following their scheduled departure. Virat Kohli & Co were basically set to move on December 9.
