Another Milestone For Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the first Indian cricket player to bag 50 test wickets in a calendar year. This year during the series in New Zealand where India is playing against the host team New Zealand the senior Indian cricket player Ravichandran Ashwin proved his supremacy and experience as a right-arm off-spinner.
R Ashwin is the only player to cross the line of taking 50 wickets in a test match this year, he is followed by the young Pakistani bowler Sahin Afridi. Apart from Ashwin the other Indian bowlers to achieve the milestone of bagging 50 wickets in a calendar year are Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, and Kapil Dev. But Ashwin surpassed the others as he did it the most. Kapil Dev did it twice and Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh thrice each. Kapil Dev did it in the year 1979 and in the year 1983. Where Anil Kumble in 1999,2004 and 2006. Harbhajan Singh provide himself in 2001,2002 and 2008.
In an interview last month R Ashwin expressed his doubts about his career. He was not sure about playing a Test match because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This is where his participation in Indiana Premier League turned the table around. In the very interview, he said that playing with the Indian Premier League teams boosted his confidence and bounced back to the international arena, and here he proved his excellence.
R Ashwin was not in every test match played by the Indian Cricket team. He missed out on 5 test matches against England. R Ashwin is a match-winner for India who is pretty balanced when needed to perform. It is not that he is only excellent with the ball but he is pretty decent with the bat. It is seen that there was a number of uncertainty about him playing or not and the recent India – England series was another example of it. But he not only surpassed the former Indian bowlers he provided his ability to himself too. The achievement of this milestone added another jew into his crown.
