Jasprit Bumrah is now ranked as the number one bowler in Test cricket. In the first Test, Ravichandran Ashwin was leading, but Bumrah’s fantastic performance in the second Test in Chennai helped him surpass Ashwin. Bumrah took five wickets in that match, and his final bowling figures of 3/15 and 3/17 pushed him to the top with 870 points, just one point ahead of Ashwin.

Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to impress. He scored two half-centuries in the Kanpur Test, which helped him climb to third place in the rankings for batters. He is now ranked just behind two of the best players in the world, Joe Root and Kane Williamson. Jaiswal was named the Player of the Match for his great performance. Since his Test debut in August last year, Jaiswal has scored 1,271 runs in 11 matches, averaging an impressive 64.05, including two double centuries.
Virat Kohli has also returned to the top 10 in the ICC Test rankings. Two years ago, he fell out of the top 10, but his recent good form has brought him back. In the Kanpur Test, Kohli scored 47 and an unbeaten 29, which helped him reach sixth place in the rankings. He is now just below Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja. In addition to his rankings boost, Kohli also became the fastest player to reach 27,000 runs in international cricket, beating the record set by Sachin Tendulkar.
With these achievements, India’s cricketers continue to shine on the global stage, showing the strength and depth of the team in Test cricket.
