India will play their 1000th One-Day International!

India will become the first cricket team to play the 1000th ODI. Team India’s major success was winning the 1983 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Under the leadership of Ajit Wadekar India played the first ODI match against England at Headingly in 1974. Kapil Dev was the captain in India’s 100th ODI. India was captained by Sourav Ganguly in the 500th ODI and by MS Dhoni in the 700th, 800th, and 900th ODI games. Rohit to lead team India in the 100th ODI match.

Over the past few months, there have been significant changes in Indian cricket, and now the task of leading Team India is in the hands of Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma is now India’s full-time captain. Currently, the Men in Blue have played 999 ODI matches, winning 518 and losing 431

Australia is in the second spot on the list of most ODIs played by a team. Australia has played 958 ODI matches. Australia has won 581 and lost 334 ODI games. While India has won 518 ODI followed through Pakistan have won 490 ODI matches. The Australian cricket team has won five ICC World Cups which makes them the most successful ODI team. 

Pakistan is third on the list of most ODIs played by a team. Pakistan has played 936 ODI matches out of which they won 490 and lost 417 ODI games.

Meanwhile, the Lankan Lions have played 870 ODI matches. Sri Lanka has won 385 and lost 419 ODI games. West Indies are fifth on the list for most ODI matches played by a team. Earlier West Indies dominated the ODI cricket they have played 834 ODI games. Till now West Indies managed to win 406 and lost 388 ODI games.

While New Zealand has played 775 ODI matches out of which they have won 354 and lost 374 ODI games. The World Cup defending champions England have played 761 ODI games out of which they won 384 and lost 399 games.

Indian cricket team will play 1000th ODI match against West Indies on 6th February 2022.
