India beats Pakistan in the ICC Women’s CWC 2022 opener
The Indian Women’s cricket team have defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening game of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 by 107 runs. The Women in blue showcased some brilliant bowling displays to stop the Pakistan batting lineup from chasing a total of 244. Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the star bowler for India in the second innings as she managed to take 4 wickets at the expense of just 31 runs and did not let the batters get any amount of momentum whatsoever to get settled.
They were being watched on by none other than Sachin Tendulkar as well who took to his Twitter account to give some motivation to the women out there.
India did not really get off to a good start as they lost their first wicket at just 4 runs in the first three overs. After a spell of 33 odd overs, the Indian team were struggling to keep wickets in their hand as they had already lost 6 wickets at just 114 runs. Later on, batters Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana produced some power-packed batting displays to take India to a match-winning total of 244/7 after 50 overs. 50’s from Smriti Mandhana, Pooja Vastrakar, and Sneh Rana helped the team to put up a respectable total on the board.
This result is a sign of good things to come and will give the Indian team a good amount of confidence to go all the way in this World Cup.
