ICC Women’s World: New Zealand’s Women’s Defeated Bangladesh Women’s

After losing to West Indies, New Zealand Women’s won a rain-soaked match at University Oval in Dunedin to prepare for the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2022. New Zealand successfully chased down a 141-run target after the game was reduced to 27 overs apiece on Monday, headed by Suzie Bates’ unbeaten 79.

In their first match of the World Cup, the West Indies thrashed New Zealand. New Zealand lost three wickets after failing to score 6 runs in the last over while chasing 260. The White Ferns, on the other hand, had to wait until the last over on Monday to tie the game, finishing in just 20 overs in wet Dunedin.

Following the early loss of skipper Sophie Devine, New Zealand won their second match of the competition thanks to an unbroken partnership of 108 runs between Bates and Amelia Kerr.

Amelia’s good form continued with 5 boundaries in her 37-ball 47 not out, while Bates’ 68-ball 79 had 8 boundaries.

We have games coming up shortly with very little turnaround time because of the competition’s format. Ground staff, Bangladesh, and umpires are to be congratulated for organizing an almost 50-over match.

Bangladesh had earlier made a great start, hitting 59 runs for the first wicket in less than 10 overs. Shamima Sultana hit 33 off 36 balls and Fargana Hoque hit fifty, but the rest of Bangladesh’s batting order failed to make an impact.

Despite Satterthwaite’s three wickets to top the New Zealand bowling charts, Bangladesh’s innings featured three runouts.

After a 4-1 win against Mithali Raj’s squad in a previous ODI series at home, White Ferns captain Devine feels upbeat about their chances against India in Hamilton on Thursday.

We know the competition is tough; we’re ecstatic to win here, and we’ll move on to India next; we played them last month, and we know what to expect,” Devine said.
