Hugh Edmeades, the auctioneer for the IPL 2022, collapses midway through Day 1.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction in Bengaluru was halted on Saturday when auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed during the second session. As franchise owners and support staff called for medical attention in the auction room, the auctioneer fell on the face first.

While teams were competing for Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, an awful tragedy occurred. The cameras were focused on the two teams, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings, who were engaged in a heated bidding battle for the Sri Lankan when a loud noise was heard. All of the franchise members who participated in the bidding process appeared surprised and uncomfortable.

Edmeades was fine after falling from a height in the IPL 2022 auction room, but he was a little shaken. He received medical attention. Edmeades was immediately taken out of the hall, according to news agency PTI, which cited an IPL source as saying he was transported to a hospital. According to ESPN, Edmeades was suffering from low blood pressure before falling in the auction room.

Hugh Edmeades of the United Kingdom has been assigned to run the show this weekend in Bengaluru. In 2018, he was appointed by India’s Board of Control for Cricket to replace Richard Madley. Since then, he’s become a familiar face at the players’ auction.

On Saturday, there was plenty of action at the IPL 2022 super auction, with Shreyas Iyer selling to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 12.25 crore, making him the most expensive player among the ten marquee players.

Harshal Patel, an India fast bowler, was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10.75 crore on Day 1, while Suresh Raina, Steve Smith, and David Miller remained unsold.
