Harshal Patel heading back to RCB for a whopping Rs 10.75 crore.

Patel, the highest wicket-taker in the PL 2021, had a base price of Rs 2 crore, and the bid was initiated by his former team, RCB. Chennai entered the bidding, and it was a constant battle between the two until it reached Rs 4.4 crore, when Chennai indicated they were out.

Sunnrisers bid Rs 4.60 crore, and RCB continued to raise bids until it reached Rs 6.50 crore before coming to a halt. RCB increased it to Rs 7.25 crore, and there were some quick calls from SRH and RCB, with the bid quickly reaching Rs 8.75 crore.

The bid sat with SRH for a while at Rs 9 crore before RCB raised it to Rs 9.25 crore, which SRH immediately increased to Rs 9.50 crore. However, RCB demonstrated that they were determined to reclaim Patel at any cost, and SRH withdrew at a cost of Rs 10.75 crore.

Harshal played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021 and finished as the season’s leading wicket-taker, with 32 wickets, matching Dwayne Bravo’s IPL 2013 record. The 31-year-ability old’s to plug the run flow in the final overs was crucial to RCB’s success last season, which saw the team reach the knockout stages.

Patel began his IPL career with RCB in 2012 and remained with the team until the big auction in 2018, when he was released. Delhi bought him for Rs 20 lakh but traded him three years later to Bangalore, and the 31-year-old proved why Virat wanted him back with a five-wicket haul in the 2021 IPL opener against Mumbai Indians, helping RCB win by two wickets.
