Happy Birthday Virat Kohli: Honoring the Milestones of India’s Batting Legend
India’s cricket superstar, Virat Kohli, celebrates his 36th birthday on Tuesday, November 5. Fans and fellow cricketers from around the world are flooding social media with birthday wishes for the iconic batter. Kohli, who debuted on the international stage in 2008, made his first appearance in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Dambulla, opening the innings alongside Gautam Gambhir. Though he managed just 12 runs off 22 balls on debut, he soon showcased his potential, hitting his first half-century (54 off 66) in the series’ fourth ODI.
Since those early days, Kohli has crafted a legendary career, earning recognition as one of the greatest batters in modern cricket across all formats. Currently, he holds the world record of 50 ODI centuries, surpassing his idol, Sachin Tendulkar. He’s also the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history with 1,292 runs and has twice won the Player of the Tournament award in the prestigious event. Earlier this year, Kohli retired from T20Is as the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 4,188 runs in the format.
With a total of 80 international centuries to his name—second only to Tendulkar’s record of 100—Kohli is not only India’s most successful Test captain, with 40 wins in 68 matches and a 58.82% win rate, but also an all-time great. His Test career has seen him score 9,040 runs across 118 matches, with 29 centuries.
On Kohli’s special day, teammates and fans are sharing heartfelt tributes on social media, celebrating his remarkable journey and achievements in cricket.
