KL Rahul’s Versatility and Young Talent Highlighted by India Coach
Gujarat Titans look to avenge for their defeat against SRH
Match number 40 of Tata IPL 2022 sees Gujarat Titans take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium.
IPL 2022: Both the teams, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad have been in tremendous form lately. GT have 6 wins in 7, while SRH have won 5 off 7.
Previous Match
Gujarat Titans won a low scoring thriller vs Kolkata Knight Riders. They defended a below par score of 156 to get their 6th win of the season. Skipper Hardik Pandya continued his rich vein of form, as he scored 67 off just 49 balls, to get GT to a defendable score, before the middle and lower order collapsed.
Andre Russell took 4 wickets for 5 runs in the last over, as Gujarat struggled to finish off the innings well.

But, GT matched KKR’s bowling effort, to win the match by 8 runs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have turned their form around, by winning 5 consecutive matches. In the last match, they restricted a star studded RCB batting line up to just 68 runs, which they chased it in just 9 overs.
T Natarajan and Marco Jansen picked up 3 wickets each, as they ripped through the RCB batting line up.
Head to Head
SRH won the one and only meeting between these 2 teams, earlier this season. Till date, this is the only loss that Gujarat Titans have suffered.
Pitch Report
In the recent matches, Wankhede has been a high scoring ground, especially with the shorter boundaries. We can expect some fireworks from the batsmen. The captain winning the toss will most probably elect to field first.
Injury Update
Will updates this once we get the news regarding any injury.
Probable Playing XI
Gujarat Titans – Wriddhiman Saha(wk), Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya(C), David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson(C), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran(wk), Shashank Singh, Jagadeesha Suchith, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, Umran Malik, T Natarajan.
Key Players
Gujarat Titans
Hardik Pandya – The Gujarat Titans skipper has been in outstanding form with both, the bat and the ball. Pandya, currently, is in contention for the orange cap as he is 4th in the list of the highest run getters. Pandya has scored 295 runs in just 6 innings, with an average of 73.75 and a strike rate of 150. With the openers struggling to get runs in the past couple of matches, onus will be on Hardik Pandya to guide GT to a good score, again.
David Miller – After a slow start to the tournament, David Miller has found form in the last couple of innings. In the match against Chennai, Miller smashed 94* off just 51 balls to guide GT to a memorable win. If GT are to score/ chase down a big score against SRH, Miller will have the responsibility of hitting long balls.
Rashid Khan – Arguably, the most consistent bowler in the IPL in the past few seasons, Rashid faces his former team SRH. Rashid was the pick of the bowlers for SRH over the years, before making a trip northwards to join Gujarat Titans. GT signed Rashid before the Tata IPL 2022 Mega Auction for RS 15 Crore. Rashid Khan has proved his worth, as he has contributed with the ball, the bat and has marshalled his troops well in the absence of Hardik Pandya. He will be looking to make a mark in the game tonight against his former club.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Rahul Tripathi – Tripathi has been in great form over the past few games. He has got Hyderabad off to quick starts and his aggressive batting has kept the scoreboard pressure off the following batsmen. He is second only to Abhishek Sharma in the top run scorers list for SRH. Tripathi has scored 212 runs in 7 matches at a hefty strike rate of 175.21!
Marco Jansen – Since the inclusion of Marco Jansen in the squad, SRH are yet to lose a league game. This shows the improvement in the bowling department that Natarajan has brought about. In his previous match, Jansen got rid of the top 3 batsmen of RCB in his very first over. This included the dismissal of Virat Kohli for a golden duck! The tall pacer has picked up 5 wickets in as many matches and has the best economy rate off all SRH bowlers at 7.15!
T Natarajan – Indian pace bowlers T Natarajan has picked up 15 wickets in 7 matches for SRH and has the best bowling average for his team. Natarajan ranks second in the list for purple cap, behind Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Natarajan also picked up 3 wickets in his previous match to restrict RCB to their 2nd lowest score in IPL history of 68 runs. Hardik Pandya and David Miller would be a much awaited battle, in today’s match.
It is set to be an exciting clash as the 2 top of the table meet at the Wankhede Stadium, tonight.
