FIFA reveals prize money for the winner and runner up : The final between France and Argentina is set to begin on Sunday, December 18, ushering in the FIFA World Cup 2022’s grand finale. Football fans should expect a tough match between current World Champions France and Lionel Messi-led Argentina as both teams attempt to win the tournament’s championship for the third time in its history. In 1978 and 1986, Argentina took home the prized title, while France triumphed in 1998 and 2018.
The winner of the FIFA World Cup final in 2022 will reportedly get a stunning $42 million in prize money, while the runner-up would receive $30 million. The $72 million in prizes will thus be treasured by the winners. While the fourth-placed squad will receive $25 million and the third-placed club will receive $27 million, respectively.
Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, and England will each receive $17 million as a result of their quarterfinal appearance. For making it to the round of 16, the United States, Senegal, Australia, Poland, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, and South Korea will each get $13 million.
In addition, $9 million will be given to each of Qatar, Ecuador, Wales, Iran, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Tunisia, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Costa Rica, Serbia, Cameroon, Ghana, and Uruguay for their participation in the group stages.
In the meantime, Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, made the announcement before to the championship game that he will hang up his boots for good after the game. In his illustrious career, Messi is aiming for his first World Cup title victory. Mbappe, on the other hand, just won the World Cup in 2018, therefore he is looking to win his second trophy of his career.
Croatia and Morocco will compete for third place on Saturday, December 17. Morocco will try to finish third for the first time in the grand tournament’s history as an African nation.
