Delhi Capitals’ member has tested positive for Covid-19
Delhi Capitals Physio Patrick Farhart has tested positive on Friday, before DC’s match vs RCB.
IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals physio tests positive for Covid-19. This is the first case for a player or the staff in the bio-bubble of the ongoing Tata IPL season.
It is not yet clear as to whether or not Farhart is showing any symptoms. The medical team of DC is having a close look on him.
Last season, IPL had been suspended after a rise in the Covid-19 cases, before being shifted to Dubai for the remainder of the season. Although Covid cases have become relatively low, the danger still looms.
To tackle Covid, IPL had decided to play all it’s matches in Mumbai and Pune and keep the players and staff in a bio-bubble.
IPL also has a rule where a player needs to be in isolation for 3 days, if he comes from a foreign country.
MI even built an MI arena to tackle covid-19. Read more: https://www.sportstrumpet.com/ipl-2022-mi-make-a-13000-sq-mt-mi-arena-at-jio-world-garden/
Assistant Physio of Delhi Capitals, Dhananjay Kaushik will take over Farhart’s role, while he recovers.
Farhart will now have to be in a 7 day isolation period away from the team. He will be tested on the 6th and 7th day. To re-enter the bio-bubble, Farhart needs to produce 2 negative RTPCR tests, taken 24 hours apart. There should be use of no medication in these 24 hours.
Those in close contact with Farhart would also have to go through a 7 day isolation period.
As of now, the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals is not in danger. It will go ahead as planned. The rule states, a game will be rescheduled only if a team does not have 12 players available. If the game cannot be rescheduled, the team unable to field players will lose points.
