Deepak Chahar was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a massive amount of INR 14 crore. But, he would miss most of the season due to a right quadriceps injury.
With Shardul Thakur also not there, Indian U-19 world cup winner Rajvardhan Hangargekar has been pipped to replace the Indian pace bowler.
Irfan Pathan believes that the talented Indian youngster has the skill set to open the bowling for Chennai. He also stated that having a calming presence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni behind the wicket will help the bowler do well.
Raj Hangargekar took 11 wickets in the U-19 World Cup and helped India win.
He was bought by the Chennai franchise for INR 1.5 crore.
For Hangargekar, it would be a dream come true, as CSK was his Late father’s favourite team.
The Indian young star will also come in handy with the bat, if necessary. Plus CSK get to pick Devon Conway, if Raj Hangargekar plays.
It will be interesting to see who CSK and MS Dhoni opt to play in the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
