Bruno Fernandes signs a new contract with Manchester United
Bruno Fernandes pens a new long term deal Manchester United.
Portugese football star Bruno Fernandes has agreed to represent Bruno Fernandes for 4 more years. This deal will make him one of clubs highest earners.
Bruno Fernandes has a great record since joining Man Utd. He joined the club in January in 2020.
The attacking midfielder has turned many heads with his performances in the Red Devils’ shirt. He has scored 49 goals and has 39 assists in 117 appearances for Utd.
He now has agreed to stay at the club till 2026.
“From the moment that I joined Manchester United, I have had a special relationship with the club and our amazing fans,” said Fernandes.
“I grew up watching this team, dreaming of getting the chance to play here one day. That dream is now a reality and an honour.”
The 27 year old scored a brace on Tuesday to help Portugal qualify for the Fifa World Cup 2022.
A long range effort and a well controlled close range finish by Bruno helped Portugal beat North Macedonia.
He has had a positive impact for Utd since his joining. He scored a hattrick in the first match of the current season against Leeds Utd.
Unfortunately for Utd, he has been inconsistent in attacking returns.
Even though he is at the top when it comes to key passes, Utd have struggled with the lack of goals scored by their talisman.
With the Bruno deal now done, Man Utd CEO Richard Arnold will try and get the sign of Ajax coach Erik Ten Haag or PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Man Utd will end the year trophyless after they crashed out of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
This is the 5th year in a row where Utd will go trophyless. The last trophy they won was the Europa League in 2016 under Jose Mourinho. They came close to winning the Europa League again last year but, were beaten on penalties by Villarreal. David De Gea’s missed penalty meant Utd would end up as the losing side.
Bruno’ form would be key as Utd try to keep up with Arsenal in the battle for the last Champions League position. Currently, they are 6th, 4 points behind Arsenal who have a game in hand. But, Bruno feels that the best is yet to come.
“There is so much more that I want to achieve here, and I know that is the same for the rest of the squad and staff,” he added.
“More than anything, we want to give the fans the success that they deserve.
“We have shared some great moments over the last years, but the best is yet to come from myself and this team.”
Man Utd take on Leicester City tomorrow at Old Trafford. The Red Devils would want to put in a strong performance against the Foxes, having been beaten 4-2 in October at the King Power Stadium.
