Ben Stokes wears a special jersey to show his support towards unwell England legend Graham Thorpe
Ben Stokes came out for the toss in the first test match against New Zealand, wearing a jersey with the name Thorpe. It also featured the number 534 on the back of the jersey. Recently, the English media released a report that the former English batsman has been ‘seriously ill’ and has been hospitalized.
“We’re supporting him, his wife, kids and all his family and friends through this tough time,” said Stokes.
“Everybody is aware that Thorpey is very unwell. We all love Thorpey and he means a hell of a lot to us.
“I’ve spoken with his wife Amanda. She’s been grateful and thankful for the respect and privacy the family have received,” added Stokes.
Graham Thorpe has represented England in 100 tests between 1993 and 2005. He has also played 82 ODI matches. He also ahd a stint with the national side as a coach. He got sacked in February after the 4-0 humiliation in the Ashes. Then, he was appointed as the head coach of Afganisthan.

Ben Stokes, the recently announced captain, is currently facing New Zealand in a three-match test series. Though a matter fact, the current England team is coached by none other than, Brendon Mccullum, the great New Zealand legend.
Prior to this, in the last meeting between the two, New Zealand beat England in the Semi-finals of the World Test Championship, after then beating India in the finals and winning the trophy. England has won just one test match in their last 17 test matches.
