BCCI has formed two groups for the IPL 2022
The Indian Premier League (IPL) will start on March 27th. It will once again feature the best players from around the world in India’s domestic league. With the addition of two new franchises, the league will become even more competitive and exciting for all T20 cricket fans. IPL 2022 will now feature ten teams.
Ten teams will participate in this year’s IPL, which will begin just 11 days after the Indian cricket team’s tour of Sri Lanka ends. There will be four stadiums in Mumbai and Pune to host the Indian Premier League in 2022, with the final scheduled for May 29 in Ahmedabad due to the coronavirus outbreak.
If the COVID issue is kept under control and the cases reduced, there might be a full house by the end. As far as the playoffs are concerned, there is no new news announced. The final will be held in Ahmedabad’s newly constructed Narendra Modi Stadium.
The city of Mumbai will host 55 matches, while Pune will host 15. Both the Wankhede Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium hosted four matches each. Stadium (CCI) and MCA International Stadium (both in Pune) will host three matches each. The final of the IPL 2022 will be held on May 30 in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, also known as Motera Stadium.
The ten teams will play a total of 14 league matches (7 at home and 7 away), for a total of 70 league matches, followed by four playoff matches. Each team will face the same five teams twice and the remaining four teams just once (2 only at home and 2 only away).
To determine the above, teams were divided into two virtual groups based on the number of IPL Championships won by the respective teams, followed by the number of final matches played by the respective teams.
The ten teams have been divided into two groups of five apiece. The Mumbai Indians lead Group A, while the Chennai Super Kings lead Group B.
