Avesh Khan is the most expensive uncapped player in history.
Avesh debuted in the IPL in 2017, but only appeared in one game. The Delhi Capitals included him as a regular only in the 2021 season. Avesh Khan was an important piece in the Delhi Capitals’ pace attack during the 2021 IPL season, taking 24 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 18.75 at a 7.37 economy rate.
He concluded the season as the season’s second-highest wicket-taker, and his performance earned him a call-up to India’s home T20I series against New Zealand. He did, however, have an opportunity to make his debut. The 25-year-old spent the last several seasons with the Delhi franchise, where he earned Rs 70 lakh each year.
Avesh, who was released by the Delhi Capitals, has set his base price for the auction at Rs 20 lakh and the Lucknow Super Giants were able to get his services for Rs 10 crore on Day 1 of the IPL Auction.
Lucknow initiated the bidding for him, with CSK quickly following in to boost the player’s worth upwards. Avesh was expected to be a hot commodity at the Auction after a stellar season with the Delhi Capitals last season, and the two clubs showed that they would not take this lightly.
Mumbai too joined in, with a total of Rs 4 crore, as Lucknow maintained its pace and Chennai slowed. Soon after, the valuation surpassed Rs 8 crore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad joined the fray. Lucknow, on the other hand, had the last laugh.
Avesh’s purchase by Lucknow with Rs 10 crore makes him the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. The previous record was held by K Gowtham, who was signed by Chennai Super Kings in 2021 for Rs 9.25 crore.
