Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar wins gold In ISSF World Cup
ISSF World Cup: The hobby of bursting balloons with guns at the village fair has made 21-year-old ‘Prince’ the world champion.
ISSF World Cup : Aishwary’s father Veer Bahadur Singh Tomar shared memories related to his son. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar has represented India in the Tokyo Olympics.
Indian shooter Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar (21) won the gold medal in the 50m rifle three positions event of the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Changwon, South Korea on 16 July 2022.
Aishwary has a fascination for guns since childhood. This young man from a farming family, never missed the hobby of bursting balloons with shrapnel guns in the village fair.
His father Veer Bahadur Singh Tomar (59) with Aishwary’s golden success in the World Cup, shared these memories related to his son with ‘PTI-Bhasha’ on Sunday.
Aishwary has represented India in the Tokyo Olympics. He hails from Ratanpur village with a population of just 800 in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. He is affectionately called ‘Prince’ at home.
Veer Bahadur Singh Tomar, a farmer in the village, about 150 km from Indore, said,
“Whenever the prince (Aishwary) used to go to the village fair as a child, he was most interested in bursting balloons with guns. He used to be very happy aiming the balloons with this gun.”
He told that since he belongs to the Rajput community, licensed weapons like rifles and guns are traditionally kept in his family. So Aishwary had seen these weapons since childhood.
He told that Aishwary made up his mind to learn the skills of shooting when his nephew Navdeep Singh Rathod was taking training at the state government’s shooting academy in Bhopal.
Aishwary’s father said,
” Prince (Aishwary) used to have less interest in studies. That’s why we sent him to Bhopal’s Shooting Academy at the age of 14. But he was not selected for training in the first attempt. Next year again sent to Bhopal Academy. Then he was selected for training at the age of 15.”
