A Star-Studded Tournament with India and Pakistan Returns After 12 Years
The upcoming six-a-side cricket tournament will host 12 teams, including arch-rivals India and Pakistan. Other competing teams are Australia, Bangladesh, England, Hong Kong, Nepal, New Zealand, Oman, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates.
The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes, launched initially in 1992, was put on hold after its 2017 edition, but the 2024 tournament marks its highly anticipated comeback after a seven-year hiatus. Legendary cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik, Sanath Jayasuriya, Anil Kumble, Umar Akmal, Glenn Maxwell, and Damien Martyn have all participated in this exciting event. Pakistan has already announced its squad for the tournament, which will be captained by Faheem Ashraf and includes players like Asif Ali.
The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament promises a distinctive experience with its innovative rules and thrilling format. India previously claimed victory in the tournament in 2005, joining other esteemed champions such as Sri Lanka, Australia, and the West Indies. The tournament’s rules promote aggressive batting and power-hitting, ensuring matches are entertaining and highly unpredictable.
