Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload Debate: Balwinder Singh Sandhu Criticizes Modern “Workload
What India Batting Coach Vikram Rathour Said About Rishabh Pant’s Opening in T20.
Vikram Rathour, India’s batting coach, said on Monday that the team’s management had not decided whether to experiment again in the T20I series against the West Indies by opening the batting with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
Rathour revealed the team’s combinations for the T20I series against the West Indies, which will be played without star opener KL Rahul for three games. Notably, in the ODI series, Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant both began the innings once, with Rohit Sharma the other opener. After Rahul was ruled out with a hamstring strain, Deepak Hooda and Ruturaj Gaikwad were appointed as replacements.
“We haven’t made up our minds yet; we still have a few days. We had a travel and relaxation day, so today is our first practice day once we have a look at the wicket and the type of surface we’ll be playing on “Rathour made the remarks during a virtual news conference on Monday.
“We’ll see then, we have choices, KL is out, I understand, and we have Ishan and Ruturaj in the mix,” he continued. Pant is a wonderful player, according to Rathour, but he is better suited to play in the middle order for the time being.
“We have choices; Rishabh is a wonderful player who can bats up the order, but it all depends on what the squad needs and what we are looking for. I have no doubt that he will remain on the squad beyond 2023, but we can use him more accurately in the middle or lower order “He continued.
Three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) between India and the West Indies will begin on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
