West Indies are extremely confident against a well-trained Indian team: Kieron Pollard

West Indies captain Kieron Pollard expressed confidence in his squad ahead of the three-match T20I series against a well-drilled Indian team, which begins on February 16 in Kolkata. Pollard also asked his players to put the IPL 2022 big auction aside and concentrate on international cricket as his team prepares to take on India in the T20 series.

Notably, 14 West Indians joined the WI captain, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell, who were retained by their respective teams ahead of the auction, to form the biggest number of foreign players in the IPL from any territory other than India.

“The IPL auction is over, and it’s time to return to international cricket. They will deal with it when the IPL arrives. It’s all about representing the West Indies and putting your best foot forward at this point “In a virtual media session on the eve of their three-match T20I series here, the Windies captain stated.

West Indies wicketkeeper-batter and vice-captain Nicholas Pooran fetched the highest offer among his teammates in the IPL super auction on Sunday, being picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10.75 crore.

When asked if the players will try to justify their large salaries by demonstrating their abilities in the series, Pollard replied, “I would not say that.” They desire to do well every time they get the chance to represent their international squad. The men were chosen for the Indian Premier League.” Everyone on a cricket pitch is expected to perform well.”

West Indies were blanked 0-3 in the One-Day International series, and Pollard felt his squad could make apologies in the next Twenty20 International series.

“Guys who haven’t been here before would have had some familiarity with the circumstances before facing a well-drilled Indian side.” For us, it’s all about always improving. “That is something we can improve on,” he remarked.
