IND vs ENG: Alex Lees had helped England off to a brilliant start in their chase of 378. Lees was on 56, before his unfortunate run-out, that sparked extreme celebrations from former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli.
After being in cruise control at stumps on day 3, England bounced back on day 4, to bowl India out for 245.
This meant England had to chase down 378 runs to win the test and draw the series 2-2. This was a tough task but, the English openers were up for it.
After failing to impress in the first innings, the duo went on to stitch a 100 run partnership, before Bumrah got rid of Zak Crawley. The Indian captain also picked up the wicket of Ollie Pope, soon.
But what sparked the celebrations from the Indian camp and especially Virat Kohli, was the dismissal of Alex Lees. All of a sudden, England were 3 down, 109.
Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow then stepped up and have put England on the verge of a miraculous win. The duo added 150 runs, off which Jonny contributed 72. They guided England to 259/3 at stumps on day 4.
Both the batsmen are well settled and with just 119 required to win, India need to break this partnership or risk losing the chance of a historic series win in England.
Kohli’s celebrations sparked reaction from the fans. See some of them below.
Day 5 of the 5th test match between India and England will decide whether the series will end in a draw or in the favor of the visiting team from India.
