Virat Kohli set to play 100 ODIs at home.

Former India captain is ready to join an elite group of Indian cricketers as he prepares for his 100th One-Day International (ODI) at home. Kohli will reach the milestone when India plays the West Indies in the second of a three-match ODI series on Wednesday, February 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli will become only the fifth Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, MS Dhoni, and Yuvraj Singh to play 100 ODIs at home. Kohli has played 258 One-Day Internationals and scored over 12,200 runs.

Kohli has played 99 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), scored 5002 runs, and hit 19 hundred at home. Only Sachin Tendulkar has a more impressive record than the former captain. In 164 ODIs at home, the great Mumbai batsman scored 6976 runs.

Notably, if Kohli achieves the much-anticipated three-figure total, he will tie Tendulkar’s record for most hundreds scored at home for India in ODIs.

Virat Kohli, who played in India’s 1000th ODI on Sunday, was out for 8 after only 4 deliveries in an unusual knock. India defeated the West Indies by six wickets, with spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar taking seven wickets each to limit the West Indies to 177.

Virat Kohli hasn’t been in the finest form in international cricket, as he hasn’t scored a century since November 2019. However, after hitting two fifties in a losing cause in South Africa, the former captain’s innings on Sunday raised a few eyebrows.

India crossed the finish line with 22 overs to spare thanks to captain Rohit Sharma’s 51-ball 60.

Meanwhile, for the second ODI, India has been boosted by the return of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer from Covid-19. Their vice-captain, KL Rahul, also practiced with the squad in Ahmedabad after missing the first ODI owing to personal reasons.

Dhawan is expected to return to the starting XI, taking the place of Ishan Kishan, who was recruited to the ODI team and began the innings with Rohit in the series opener.
